XAT 2023 1 Year Preparation Plan

Around 1 lac candidates appear for Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) every year. The competition is tough due to the number of candidates being huge. But that is something we need not to worry about! Starting with the preparation plan, two things that we absolutely, absolutely need to know before beginning, are the Exam Pattern, and the Syllabus of XAT 2023. XAT 2023 Exam Pattern

XAT 2023 is a computer-based exam will be held in online mode.

  • The question paper will be divided into five sections; Verbal & Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, General Knowledge, and Essay Writing.
  • Number of questions asked from each section will be, 28 questions from QA & DI, 26 from Verbal & Logical Ability, 25 from GK, 21 from Decision Making, and one question will be of Essay Writing. There will be total 101 questions in XAT 2023.
  • Candidates will have three hours to answer all the questions.
  • For every correct answer, 01 mark will be awarded. The candidates must remember that there will be a negative marking of 0.25 mark for every incorrect answer. However, negative marking is not applicable in the General Knowledge section.
  • For every 8 consecutive unanswered questions, 0.10 mark will be deducted.

XAT 2023 Preparation Strategy

Now that we have gone through the exam pattern and syllabus of XAT 2023, we can start working on the development of our preparation strategy. One thing you need to understand here is that, there can not be a fixed, rigid preparation strategy, which works for everyone. That is just not possible. Everyone’s level of understanding, learning process and capacity of working hard is different. Therefore, your preparation strategy must be exclusive, tailor-made, and suitable for you. What we can do here is that, we can draw the outline of your preparation strategy, and help you figure that what works for you and what doesn’t. Along with it, some general preparation tips, which are useful for everyone, are also given below.

Set Deadlines

According to experts, the total preparation time which is needed for XAT is around seven to eight months. Which means, if we start from now, we should be able to finish our preparation by August or September, 2022. And that is what you should aim for. Finish up your preparation as if you have your XAT on October 01, 2022. Make it your deadline, and start working in the direction towards meeting it. Along with it, set some smaller deadlines also. Daily, weekly, and monthly. This will serve as a motivation, and meeting deadlines would give you a sense of accomplishment. Also, it will ensure that you finish your syllabus on time.

Make a Routine

Having a proper study routine will help you stay focused and consistent. If you are to start from now, dedicate at least 4 to 5 hours a day to the preparation of XAT 2023, and then gradually increase this time. Therefore, the first thing which you need to do right now is to make a routine for yourself, and then start following it sincerely.

You can find many sample papers and mock tests for XAT 2023 available online. Once you are done with the preparation, start solving them. Attempt as many mock tests as possible.

After solving the sample papers and giving the mock tests, assess your performance by identifying your weak and strong points. Make a list of all the mistakes that you are making repeatedly. Work on those things and improve your performance.
