UCEED 2022 Syllabus for Part-A

The Part A of the UCEED Syllabus consists of six topics. There is as such no details syllabus of the exam, which can give data of the important topics. However, the official syllabus explains what shall be expected out of each topic. The students may check the syllabus and then start practicing to develop the needed skills.

Visual and Spatial Ability

  • Pictorial and diagrammatic questions to test
  • Understanding of transformation and / or manipulation of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships
  • Knowledge of practical and everyday mechanical and scientific concepts.

Observation and Design Sensitivity

  • Ability to detect concealed properties in ordinary things, people, situations, and events, and thinking critically about them.
  • Applying attention to certain details, analysing, reasoning, classifying, inferring and predicting.
  • Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes.

Environmental and Social Awareness

  • General awareness of environmental factors, like – climate, population, water, vegetation, pollution, weather, natural resources etc.,
  • One should know about their implications on the design of products, images, infrastructure and environment.
  • Awareness of social and cultural connection with the design, history of the designed artefact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design responses.
  • History of art, sculpture and literature.

Analytical and Logical Reasoning

  • – Ability to look at information
  • Be it qualitative or quantitative in nature, and discern patterns within the information.
  • Ability to weigh opinions, arguments or solutions against appropriate criteria.
  • Ability to check for hidden bias or hidden assumptions and whether evidence and argument support conclusions.
  • Ability to use logic and structured thinking to deduce from a short passage, which of a number of statements is the most accurate response to a posed question.
  • Data Interpretation, brainteasers, and patterns.

Language and Creativity

  • Ability to understand and use Standard English.
  • Reading comprehension, knowledge of English grammar.
  • Ability to think creatively in terms of alternatives, ability to distinguish innovative options and think out of the box.

Design Thinking and Problem Solving

  • Ability to use visual analogies, metaphors, signs and symbols.
  • Ability to understand complexity, identify problems, generate alternatives, evaluate options and select solutions.

UCEED 2022 Syllabus for Part-B

To get good UCEED 2022 result, candidates must take Part B seriously. In part-B of UCEED 2022, there is only one question of drawing. In this question, following abilities of students shall be evaluated:

  • Ability and skill to draw – product, people, scenes.
  • The proportion and good line quality of the drawing.
  • Composition, proportion, perspective, and shading in the skills.

UCEED 2022 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of UCEED 2022 for part A and B is as follows:

  • The exam duration is 3 Hours.
  • The question paper will be available in the English language.
  • The total number of marks is 300 marks.
  • The question paper will consist of two parts: Part-A and Part-B.
  • It is compulsory to attempt questions from both parts.

Details of Part-A Question Paper

  • The total marks for part A is 240 marks.
  • Time duration of the exam is 2 hours and 30 Minutes.
  • It is a computer-based test.
  • The UCEED Part-A Question Paper is divided into three sections, which are Section A, B, C


  • This section carries NAT (Numerical Answer Type). 
  • A total of 18 questions are asked in the exam. 
  • 4 marks are awarded for the correct answer. However, there is no negative marking.


  • This section has Multiple Select Questions.
  • A total of 18 questions are asked in the exam. 
  • 4 marks are awarded for the correct answer. 
  • 0.19 marks are deducted for the wrong answers.
  • Each MSQ has one or more correct answer(s) out of the four given choices.


  • This section has Multiple Choice Questions.
  • A total of 32 questions are asked in this section.
  • 3 marks are awarded for the correct answers. 
  • 0.71 marks are deducted for the wrong answers.
  • Each MCQ has four choices out of which only one is the correct answer.

Details of Part-B Question Paper

  • The part-B section is subjective-based.
  • The total mark allotted for this section is 60 marks.
  • The maximum time duration of the exam is 30 minutes.
  • Part-B consists of one question that is aimed at testing the candidate’s drawing skills.
  • The question in Part-B is displayed on the computer screen and the answer has to be written in the answer book. 
  • Scribe for Part-B exam is not permitted. The answer booklets will be collected at the end of the exam.
  • Attempting this section is mandatory.

Preparation Tips for UCEED Exam 2022

The UCEED Exam is quite different from other entrance exams, as tests the candidate’s skills and perspective towards different things. It tests verbal and non-verbal logic. One should have good observational skills, must pay attention to each and every detail, etc. So, here are some tips that can help you to prepare well for UCEED 2022. 

  • Must have good knowledge of Indian art and architecture and general awareness of design-related topics.
  • Solve previous year question papers and use UCEED answer key while evaluating the performance.
  • Do practice questions of MCQs of NID’s Question Paper.
