The SAU result releases only at the official website in the form of merit list of qualifying candidates. Compilation of SAU 2021 Result
South Asian University releases the result of the admission entrance test as a merit list of qualifying candidates. The merit list is prepared on the basis of the performance of individual candidates in the entrance exam.
Candidates may note that the SAU merit lists are prepared separately for each member country of the SAARC corporation. 50% of the seats across all Master’s degree programs are reserved for Indian candidates. Qualifying candidates are offered seats to their preferred course as per merit and availability.
SAU 2021 Tie Breaking Rule
While compiling the SAU merit lists on the basis of the score of candidates in the entrance test, the University adopts certain tie breaking methodologies for resolution of any tie in marks. Each candidate is allotted a distinct rank as per their score in the exam. The rank is indicated in the final merit lists.
Tie breaking is as per the following rules.
- In case of a tie of the score of two or more candidates, the score of the candidates in Section C of the entrance test is considered. Those who score higher in this section are positioned higher up the merit list.
- If a tie still exists after considering the marks of Section C, or Section C does not exist in the entrance test for a particular program, then marks secured in Section B of the entrance test is considered. Those who secure higher marks in Section B are positioned higher up the merit list.
- In case a tie of score still exists after considering the score in Section & Section B of the entrance test, then the candidate who is older in age is positioned higher up the merit list.
SAU Reservation Policy 2021
The International University SAU adopts certain reservation criteria based on the country of origin of the candidate when it comes to offering seats for admission to Master’s degree programs. Check out the details below.
- 50% of the seats across all Master’s degree programs are reserved for Indian candidates.
- 4% of the seats across all Master’s degree programs are reserved for candidates from the countries of Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
- Candidates from Pakistan and Bangladesh have 10% of the seats across all Master’s degree programs reserved for them.
- 10% of seats are reserved for candidates who do not belong to any SAARC member country.
- As per admission policy of SAU, if seats reserved for candidates of a particular country are not filled up, then candidates from other nations may be allotted that seat.

South Asian University is an International University established by eight member countries of the SAARC. The University offer full-time courses at the PG & Doctoral level to eligible candidates. Candidates from both SAARC member countries as well as non-member countries are eligible for admission to the courses offered by the University. For admission to Master’s degree courses including M.Sc, MA and LLM, the SAU conducts an online Computer Based Entrance Test based on the rank of which, admission is conducted for candidates from SAARC member countries.
Hostel & Medical Facilities in SAU
As per the current policies of the University, candidates from outside the NCR region are provided hostel facilities on a 3-to-a-room-basis. Dimensions of the room are 14×15 feet and they have attached bathrooms. Rooms are furnished with tables & chairs.
Candidates availing hostel facilities have to pay USD 60 per semester (for SAARC candidates). Since there are limited number of hostels, the University provides such facilities on a first-come-first-serve basis only. Additional mess charges may be applicable at the rate of USD 50 to 75 per month.
All candidates admitted in SAU are covered under Medical Group Insurance Scheme worth up to INR 1,50,000. Premiums for the medical insurance scheme are borne by SAU. SAU also has their own Health Centre where OPD facilities are also available. In addition, candidates expending for medicines prescribed by University doctor are eligible to be reimbursed.
