This clarification comes one day after significant chaos was caused among students due to a statement given by the Education Minister in a webinar / seminar with KV students. In the seminar, he had hinted about syllabus reduction and that questions in the entrance exam will be asked from reduced syllabus of CBSE only. The final status is that that will not happen – syllabus remains unchanged, however there is change in pattern to compensate for reduced syllabus.
Important: JEE Main Admit Card 2021
Another major announcement in JEE, NEET 2021 is the announcement by Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on removal of 75% criteria for NITs, IIITs, CFTIs admission also through JEE Main 2021.
Detailed explanation of all the announcements and upcoming events are explained here.
1. NEET 2021, JEE Main 2021 Syllabus Will Not Change
You must have come across different news reports, youtube videos, social media posts that are saying that NEET, JEE syllabus have been removed. As a result many are also searching for NEET 2021 reduced syllabus PDF, and similarly for JEE Main 2021 reduced syllabus pdf. However unfortunately, there is no such change.
The confusion happened when the Education Minister gave a confusing statement in a seminar with KV students. He said that there will be a change in number of questions to compensate for the syllabus reduction. However his statement was mistaken by news reports and social media.
To clear the confusion, now the Ministry of Education has published a press release to announce that there will not be any change in syllabus. Also, NTA has released JEE Main 2021 syllabus PDF.
2. There are changes in JEE, NEET Exam Pattern 2021
We already know that the exam pattern of JEE Main 2021 has been changed. The same is explained in the press release, that says:
“The syllabus for JEE (Main 2021) to remain same as the previous year. But students will be given choice to answer 75 questions (25 questions each in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) out of 90 questions (30 questions each in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics). In JEE (Main) 2020, there were 75 questions all of which had to be answered by the candidates (25 questions each in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics).”
Now the question is, whether NEET 2021 exam pattern will also undergo changes.
As per the press release, there are chances!
The exact statement in the press release is: “The exact pattern for NEET (UG) 2021 is yet to be announced. However, in view of reduction of syllabus by some boards across the country, the NEET (UG) 2021 question paper will also have options on the lines of JEE (Main).”
Therefore, NEET 2021 students should anticipate changes in the exam pattern as well.
3.Eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2021 changed – 75% criteria removed!!
Amidst all the confusion and chaos, this is the one news that has brought the most smiles on the faces of students. Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has tweeted the following:
“Considering the decision taken for IIT JEE(Advanced) and in line with the decision taken for the last academic year, it has been decided to waive off the 75% marks (in class 12 exam) eligibility criteria under Joint Entrance Examination (Main) for the next academic year 2021-2022”
This brings an end to the months long demands by students, who were vehemently asking for waiving off the 75% or top 20 percentile criteria for JEE. While their demands were met in JEE Advanced 2021, initially when JEE Main 2021 was announced the criteria was kept. However now, with few days left for JEE Main 2021 application form to end, now the JEE Main 2021 eligibility criteria has been revised. Therefore now students with less than 75%, or top 20 percentile, should also apply as now even they can also get admission in NITs, IIITs, CFTIs.
