M.Tech Admission 2021 without GATE in IITs, NITs & IISc
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted every year by one of the Indian Institutes of Technology on a rotational basis. For admission to M.Tech, GATE is compulsory. However, there is a special category of seat which are filled up in the IITs, NITs and IISc alike by candidates who do not have a valid GATE score.
IITs, NITs and IISc fill up sponsored seats in the M.Tech program by admitting non-GATE candidates. These seats are filled up by those candidates whose program is sponsored by their employer. Evidently, employed personnel seldom get the time to prepare for competitive exams such as GATE. They can however get direct admission upon fulfilment of the minimum eligibility criteria.
Eligibility for M.Tech Admission 2021 without GATE in Sponsored Seats
- Candidates must have the minimum educational qualification of a B.E or B.Tech degree in a corresponding branch of Engineering/Technology.
- Applicants must have completed the specified minimum years of continuous service with the employer.
- The employing organization must sponsor the candidate’s 2-year M.Tech program.
- The candidate has been granted 2-year study leave by the employing organization.

M.Tech Admission 2021 without GATE in IIITs and Deemed Institutes
Indian Institutes of Information Technology conduct their own entrance tests for admission to the M.Tech program. These institutes conduct these entrance tests for both GATE and Non-GATE candidates. While those who have a valid GATE score can get admission directly, other non-GATE candidates have to take the test and qualify it for admission to M.Tech.

M.Tech Admission 2021 without GATE in Central & State Universities
There are various Central and State Universities across India. Some of them are renowned for the quality of education and post-qualification prospects. Admission to M.Tech in Central and State Universities can be obtained even if a candidate do not have a valid GATE score.
These Universities conduct their own entrance tests. However, for admission to M.Tech, GATE candidates can be shortlisted on the basis of the GATE score. Universities thus usually reserve a portion of the M.Tech seats for candidates who seek admission without having a valid GATE score.

M.Tech Admission 2021 without GATE in Private Institutes/Deemed Universities
Direct admission to M.Tech courses are offered by certain privatized Institutes and/or Deemed to be Universities. These institutes do not seek GATE qualification for admission. Additionally, candidates are also not required to qualify through any entrance exam conducted by the Institute/Deemed University.
For direct M.Tech Admission 2021 without GATE, candidates are conventionally shortlisted on the basis of fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria and merit in the qualifying degree exam.
