New in KCET 2021

This year there are 2 major changes in KCET 2021:

  • Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the class 12th Std CBSE examination and 2nd PUC examination in Karnataka state has been cancelled by the respective boards. Therefore, while preparing the rank list for admission there will be no weightage of the 10+2 marks. The admission shall be only based on KCET 2021 marks. This is applicable only for 2021-22 session.
  • There is no minimum marks requirement in 10+2 for admission in any of the courses offered via KCET 2021.
  • The syllabus of KCET 2021 will be as per the revised syllabus of the 1st and 2nd PUC of the Karnataka board.

KCET 2021 Answer Key

KEA releases the official answer key for KCET 2021 on the official website. However, on the exam day, various coaching institutes and teachers also release the unofficial answer key. Using the answer keys candidates can get an estimated score that they might get in KCET 2021.

How to estimate marks with the help of KCET 2021 answer key?

  • Add 1 mark for correct answer.
  • There is no negative marking

Candidates can also raise objections against the official KCET 2021 answer key. They need to address subject, version code, question number in the objections clearly. Candidates should also submit their objections along with proof / evidence. These are to be addressed to.

  • Executive Director, Karnataka Examination Authority, Bangalore.
  • The objections are to be send via speed post. Candidates can also submit it through e-mail at keauthority-ka@nic.in.

KCET 2021 Admit Card

KEA releases KCET 2021 admit card in the online mode for all the registered candidates. To download the admit card candidates have to use their application number and date of birth. On the admit card candidates can check:

  • Reporting time at the center
  • Allotted exam center
  • And other details like name, subject name, instructions, etc

On the exam day, the admit card must be carried in printed format and with it ID card and black / blue ballpoint pen must be taken. No candidates shall be allowed to enter the exam center without the hard copy of KCET 2021 hall ticket. It is important to preserve the admit card until the final admission is done because it needed during counselling and seat allotment.

For Covid-19: Students are requested to carry their own masks and hand sanitizers and maintain social distancing at the center. Do not gather in crowds. Also, follows all instruction at the center as given by the authorities as safety protocols. KEA shall provide detailed protocols to be followed before the exam.

KCET 2021 Exam Pattern

KCET 2021 is to be conducted as an offline test where candidates will answer on OMR sheets. All questions are of the MCQ pattern. The maximum marks in the exam is 180 and the total marks is also 180. Correct answers attract 1 marks. However, there is no negative marking for wrong answers.

KCET 2021 Kannada Language Test Details

Candidates claiming eligibility for admission to Government seats under Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses with any of the languages among Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava as their mother tongue have to take the Kannada Language test.

Total marks: The test carries a total of 50 marks.
Minimum passing marks: The minimum passing marks for the test is 12 out of 50.

How To Prepare For KCET 2021?

Students applying for Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2021 might be exploring the options to qualify the State-level exam. Here are some tips:

Refer the prescribed syllabus only: The first, main element for the preparation of the exam is the syllabus. The question of the KCET 2021 exam is based on the revised syllabus of first and second PUC which is prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka. 

Mark Important Topics: After gathering all the syllabus topics of the exam. Starting marking the important topics from the chapters. As the syllabus is of first and second PUC, you might be used to the topics. Make the daily routine to cover all the topics from the syllabus and solve at least 2-3 question related to them.

Solve Question Paper: It is better to practice a test, mock test or question paper as per the test timing. Revise the topics and solve at least 10-20 questions on them. Refer to the entrance exam books and solve the question from them to know the level of the exam.

Work on Your Speed: Each section consist 60 question and the duration of the exam is 80 minutes (each section). It is difficult for us to solve the question in less than 2 minutes if our speed is less. Speed is the greatest factor of the examination. Try to previous year question paper in the prescribed in time. Daily practicing a question paper, will boost up your speed and accuracy.

KCET 2021 Result

Candidates can expect the KCET 2021 result to release along with the publication of the final answer key. Candidates must note that the evaluation of their responses is to be done on the basis of the final answer keys for the determination of the merit of order.

KCET 2021 result releases at the website kea.kar.nic.in as per schedule. Candidates are assigned ranks in the categories of Engineering, Architecture, Farm Science, B. Pharm and Pharm D as per merit determined by the exam conducting body KEA. As such, a separate result sheet for each of the aforementioned categories is released.

Important Points to Note About KCET Result

Note: Candidates must note that any request for re-totaling of marks are not entertained by the KEA after the publication of the result.

  • The candidates are requested to verify their qualifying examination details displayed on the result sheets without fail, if there is any discrepancy with reference to qualifying examination marks the same should be brought to the notice of this office immediately for fresh assignment of ranks if any.
  • Candidates whose results will be withheld for want of qualifying examination marks should submit a photocopy of their Q. E. marks card either in person or through ‘Speed Post’ to the KEA and the ranks in respect of such candidates will be published subsequently.

KCET 2021 Counselling

 Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), Karnataka, conducts counselling online at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. The entire process of KCET 2021counselling includes:

  • Register for counselling at the native centre.
  • Thereafter they have to do the entry of options followed by seat allotment.
  • At last, the candidates have to download the challan and pay the required fee. 

While registrations candidates have to exercise their options. They have to choose college wise, discipline wise, category wise and course wise. However, all the options have to be selected on the basis of priority of the candidate. Candidates should note that they can choose as many options as per their choice for KCET 2021 admission.

If the candidate is satisfied with the seat allotted to them, then they need to proceed towards the fee payment option. Only after payment of the fee, the seat will be finalised for admisison.

KCET 2021 Reservation Criteria

Reservation of seats in favor of certain categories as per Rule 9 of CET-2006 Admission Rules.

Under this category, the following category of reservations are available.

  • Reservation for Reserved Category candidates (SC/ST, OBC under categories 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B).
  • Reservation for Rural candidates.
  • Reservation for Kannada Medium candidates.

Age limit – There is no age limit for the candidates to apply for KCET, except for B.Pharma, Pharma-d, and Naturopathy & Yoga courses. For admission in these courses, candidates must have completed the age of 17 as of December 31, 2021.

Educational Qualification

  1. Candidates must have passed 2nd PUC / 12th std / equivalent exam.
  2. Those who are appearing in 2nd PUC / 12th Standard in 2021 whose result is awaited can also apply and appear for KCET 2021.

Who are not eligible for KCET 2021?: A candidate who had obtained a seat in any discipline through KEA (CET Cell) in any of the previous years and not surrendered the seat before the last date cannot take admission via CET 2021.
