How is NEET 2021 Rank Prepared

NEET rank is prepared based on the scores of the candidates in the exam. Higher score means higher rank.

The total marks out of 720 are the NEET 2021 raw score. These are calculated as per the marking scheme and final answer key of NEET. NTA calculates it as follows:

  • Adds 4 marks for each correct answer.
  • Deduct 1 mark for each incorrect answer.

There are 2 type of NEET rank:

  • NEET 2021 AIR – All India Rank.
  • NEET 2021 Category Rank.

The candidates who get an all-India rank also get a category rank. The all India rank shows the positions of the candidate in NEET in comparison to all the other students. Whereas, the category rank shows their position within that particular category

In cases two or more candidates get same marks or rank, NTA uses tie breaking method. It is as follows:

  • First of all, the higher marks in biology are noted. The candidates with higher marks in bio get a higher rank.
  • However, if the above doesn’t work then the marks secured by the candidates in chemistry are considered.
  • If this also does not break the tie then the aspirant with less proportion of incorrect answers in all the subjects get a higher rank.
  • Lastly, if none of the above works then the elder candidate is granted a higher rank.
