What’s New Happened in JEE Main Last Year
For the year 2022, NTA shall introduce the following changes in the national level engineering entrance exam.
- NTA conducted JEE Mains in 13 regional languages.
- There was a change in the exam pattern. Now there are 2 sections for each subject – section A, B. Section B has optional questions.
- JEE Main is now conducted 4 times a year in Feb, March, April, and May.
- Now, age is not a tie breaking criteria this time.
- The challenge fee has been reduced. Now it is Rs 200/- per question.
- UPSEE has been scrapped. Now JEE Main 2022 will be used for UP engineering admissions, bringing 1.4 lakh seats directly under it, for 750 colleges.

JEE Main 2022 Exam Pattern
Candidates who are going to appear for JEE Main 2022 entrance exam must be well aware of the exam pattern. There will be three papers – Paper-1 and Paper-2A and Paper-2B. Moreover, NTA has made a few changes in the exam pattern for JEE Main. The paper is divided into two sections – Numerical, and MCQs. Check the complete exam pattern below.
Mode of the exam – Computer-based with an exception of Drawing test which will be held offline.
Type of questions – MCQ and Numerical type.
Number of questions in Paper 1 – In the B.Tech question paper, a total of 90 questions are asked in the exam out of which the applicant has to attempt 75 questions or 20 questions out of 30 questions (for each section).
Marking scheme – For every correct response, 4 marks are awarded and there is a negative marking of 1 marks for incorrect response marked. However, there is no negative marking on Non-MCQ type questions.
Medium of the exam – The JEE Main 2022 question paper is available in 13 languages (English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Urdu, Telugu, Odia, and Punjabi).

JEE Main 2022 Paper 1 Exam Pattern
In paper 1, each subject will have two sections. Section A will consist of Multiple-Choice Questions, and Section B contains 1 questions for which answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In section B, candidates will have to attempt only 5 questions out of 10. There is no negative marking in Section B.

- Mathematics section carries 20 MCQs with 10 numerical-based questions. Total marks for this section is 100 marks.

JEE Main 2022 Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria are the most important factor in the JEE Main Admission process. Applicants who are interested must check the factors before applying. The criteria include age limit, educational qualifications, qualifying examination.
- There is no age limit for appearing the JEE Main 2022.
- Candidates must have passed 12th or any other equivalent exam in 2020, 2021, or appearing in 2022.
- The applicants must have passed B.E/B.Tech in Physics, Mathematics, or Any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject).
- Students who are appearing for B.Arch must have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- For B.Plan, Mathematics is a compulsory subject.
- Applicants can attempt JEE Main 2022 for three consecutive years.
- For admissions into IITs, NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs, the candidates must have secured 75% marks and 65% for reserved category.
- For B.Arch, the minimum qualifying marks is 50% in 10+2 or equivalent.

How to apply for the JEE Main application form?
The step by step procedure to fill and submit the registration form of JEE Main is as follows-
- Firstly, visit the official website of jee main- jeemain.nta.nic.in
- Then click on the “New Registration”
- Enter the basic details such as name, mobile number, date of birth etc.
- After successful registration, candidates will receive user id and password. These are the login credentials for further admission process.
- Now login using the credentials and fill in the rest of the details.
- Upload the photograph and signature as per the specifications.
- Lastly, make the payment of the application form and submit.
- Take the printout of the application form for future references.

JEE Main 2022 Exam Centers
Candidates who are applying for JEE Main must mention the examination centers as per their preferences. The list of the test cities will be available in the information brochure. However, the applicants must note that only 4 exam centers are allowed to submit.
JEE Main 2022 Admit Card
NTA issues JEE Main 2022 admit card online for the registered candidates only. It is released for download online at jeemain.nta.nic.in. To download it, aspirants will require to log in by entering their application number, date of birth. The JEE Main Admit Card carries important details of the candidate and the examination. It serves as identity proof for the applicant. Candidates must carry the admit card to the exam hall. Without the admit card, the applicants are not allowed to appear for the exam.
What to carry to the examination center of jee main?
Applicants are advised to carry only the following with them into the examination venue:

- Simple transparent Ball Point Pen
- Additional passport size photograph, to be pasted on attendance sheet
- Personal hand sanitizer (50 ml)

JEE Main 2022 Answer Key
The answer key of JEE Main is generally released a week or two after the exam is over. It is released for download under the individual candidate login. The answer key consists of all the correct answers to the questions asked in the exam. With the help of the solution key, candidates can tally and estimate their jee main scores. There will be two types of answer keys released by NTA- Provisional and Final. Also, the aspirants can challenge the answer key if they find the answer is not correct.
JEE Main 2022 Result
The JEE Main Result releases soon after the release of the final answer key. Candidates can check their results online. The NTA declares the result in the form of a merit list and scorecard. Students can check their results by submitting their application number and password. Candidates whose name is on the merit list are eligible for the counseling.
JEE Main 2022 Cutoff
It is to be noted that there is no minimum cut-off required to pass JEE Main entrance exam. However, to be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced, aspirants will need to secure the minimum cut-off percentile. The authorities release two types of cutoffs – admission and qualifying cutoff marks. The admission cutoff is the opening and closing ranks for admissions into the participating institutes, whereas the qualifying cutoff is released by JoSAA during the counseling process.
NTA JEE Main 2022 Counselling
The counseling is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Qualified candidates have to register and submit their college and course preferences before the deadline date. The counselling process is conducted online. There will be around 5 to 7 rounds of counseling to offer admission into the B.Tech/B.Arch/B.Planning courses. However, the seat allocation is done based on the availability of the seats, preferred choices, and merit scores.
