More than 15 lakh students across the country are, at this very moment, preparing for the upcoming NEET UG exam. And in the minds of all of them, some questions are waging a war.

  2. Will NEET 2021 be conducted online or offline?
  3. When will NEET 2021 exam be held i.e. what is the exam date?

Here are the most recent answers to all of them, as on this date.

#1. Has NEET 2021 application form been released? If not what is the releasing date?

NTA has not yet released the NEET 2021 application form.

Before Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank’s webinar, there were high expectations that he will announce the exam date and application form date. However he did not. He said that the schedule is being finalized.

If you google about NEET 2021 application form date, or on social media, you may see 10 December 2020 as the date of release of form. Please note that Google search is showing wrong date of form, and NEET 2021 APPLICATION FORM HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED YET.

NTA is expected to announce the NEET 2021 application form date, exam date, and other details of the exam in some time.

#2. NEET 2021 Online or Offline

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is until now an OFFLINE exam. That is the exam is held in pen and paper mode.

Yesterday, on 10th December, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank talked about NEET as online and offline. Here is what he said exactly

After that, the Education Ministry also published a press release. In the press release, the official statement on whether NEET 2021 will be online or offline is as follows

In terms of mode of conduct of examination – online and offline; the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and National Medical Commission (NMC) are being consulted in this regard, he added.

This statement means that there is no confirmation yet on whether the exam will be online or offline. The official bodies concerned with NEET – NMC and MOHFW are looking into the matter. A decision will be taken soon.

CONCLUSION: NEET 2021 may be offline or online. Until last year it was offline. Because of the pandemic situation, candidates suggested the Education Ministry to hold NEET online like JEE Main 2021. But a decision to that end has not been taken yet.

NTA will announce whether NEET 2021 will be online or offline when they release the information brochure at

#3. When will NEET 2021 exam be conducted? What is the exam date?

As per the official press release from Education Ministry:

In a question relating to syllabus and dates of NEET, the Minister clarified thatthe schedule for NEET (UG) 2021 is being finalized in consultation with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and National Medical Commission (NMC). The same would be declared in near future, he said. Regarding the syllabus for NEET (UG) 2021, Shri Pokhriyal said that the syllabus will remain the same as the previous year.

Therefore, as you can see, the exam date is not yet final.

As of now the probable date seems 2 May 2021.

The minister made it clear in his webinar that their focus is to hold exams on time, if situations allow.

From our analysis, the biggest factor that will decide the exam date are CBSE Board Exam Dates 2021. Also, the time table of other boards’ class 12th exams will affect the exam date of NEET.

The good thing is that it is now final that the syllabus of NEET 2021 will not change.
