IIM Ahmedabad Cut Off – IIM Ahmedabad has released the CAT cutoff 2021 for admission into their PGP program. The minimum cutoff of CAT-2021 percentile ranks for the general category is 70 in each section and 80 overall. The CAT 2021 result has been announced on Jan 3, 2022, at 5 pm. ‘Quantitative Aptitude (QA), ‘Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning’ (DILR), and ‘Verbal and Reading Comprehension’ will be the three parts of CAT-2021. After the preliminary screening, only candidates who meet the following minimal cut-offs in sectional percentile ranks, overall percentile rank, and attaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all parts of the CAT-2021 will be considered for all future phases.

IIM Ahmedabad Shortlisting And Selection Process

Preliminary Screening – Only candidates who reach the minimal cut-offs given in the above cutoff table in sectional percentile ranks, overall percentile rank, and a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of the CAT-2021 will be evaluated for all subsequent steps after the preliminary screening.

Shortlisting for Analytical Writing Test (AWT) & Personal Interview (PI) – Shortlisting will take place in two stages: first, from the applicant pool, by selecting exceptional performers across various disciplines in Stage 1, and then, after removing the candidates selected in Stage 1 from each category (General, NC-OBC, SC, ST, and PWD), the additional number of candidates are shortlisted for AWT & PI. The candidates will be chosen on the composite score ‘CS’, subject to their meeting the criteria.

Final Selection – Shortlisting of applicants will be done independently for each category (General/SC/ST/NC-OBC/PwD) on the basis of their ‘Final Composite Scores’ (FCS) following their AWT and PI. The number of people chosen in each reservation category will be in proportions set by law.

Admission Process followed by IIM Ahmedabad

  • The CAT score is a significant factor in the admissions process.
  • Candidates should keep in mind that it is critical to do well in each section of the exam.
  • In addition to CAT scores, IIMA considers candidates’ academic achievement throughout their academic careers up to the bachelor’s degree level for shortlisting for AWT and PI.
  • Please note that IIMA selects AWT and PI candidates independently of the other IIMs.
  • As a result, there are differences in the lists of candidates shortlisted by different IIMs.
  • After the CAT results are released, details of the candidates shortlisted will be made available on the IIMA website (iima.ac.in) in the second week of January 2022.
  • IIMA will also send AWT and PI call letters to shortlisted candidates.
  • IIMA makes admission offers to successful students after the AWT and PI rounds.
  • The final selection is based on a variety of factors, including CAT, AWT, and PI performance, academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular achievements, work experience, and so on.
  • Candidates who take the AWT and PI will be able to see if they have been offered admission by IIMA by visiting the IIMA website in the second week of April 2022.
  • All successful candidates will get an admission offer letter.
  • Candidates who have been accepted must confirm their acceptance by completing all necessary formalities by the first or second week of May 2022.
  • During the second week of April 2022, some candidates may be placed on the waiting list.
  • The number of successful candidates accepting IIMA’s offer will determine the number of offers given to candidates on the waiting list.

Ques: Is 95 percentile good in CAT 2021?

Ans: Yes it is, the candidates scoring above 95 percentile can apply for admission in the top IIMs.

Ques: Does 12 marks matter in CAT 2021?

Ans: It does not matter in the CAT exam itself. However, class 10 and 12 marks are considered during the final admission list prepared by the IIMs.

Ques: Is 70-80 percentile good in CAT 2021?

Ans: No, if you are targeting for IIMs then it is not a good percentile. However, this is also not a bad score. With this, you can definitely get admission to some of the B-Schools.
