GATE 2021 Support Letter Released at GOAPS Login – Download Link, Process, Use

With a day to go for GATE 2021 exam, IIT Bombay has released supporting letter for candidates. The supporting letter, also being referred to as support letter or additional support letter, is available for download at GOAPS that is the GATE 2021 candidate login. Note that this document is separate from GATE 2021 admit card. This document has been issued so that you do not face problems in reaching the exam center due to Bharath Bandh.

How to download the Support Letter?

The steps to download the support letter for GATE 2021 are as follows.

Step 1. Go to GATE 2021 official website that is gate.iitb.ac.in. There, click on the link for GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). Which will take you to appsgate.iitb.ac.in.

Or, you could skip this first step and directly click the link given above.

Step 2. Login. To login, you will have to enter your enrollment ID or email address in the first field, and password in the second. Then click submit button.

Step 3. Now once you login, you will see your application status at the top, followed by instructions, and then when you scroll down, you will see link to download supporting letter; click it.

Note – If you do not get any link to download support letter in your login, do not worry. It is only for candidates who have exam on 6th February.

Content of Support Letter for GATE 2021

The support letter says:

“This is to certify that the bearer of this letter with a valid Admit Card of GATE 2021 is a candidate for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2021), which is a national level examination for possible admission in higher studies or jobs. About 9 lakh candidates all over India, across 200 cities, will appear for this GATE 2021 examination.

This letter is issued to request all concerned to help and ensure a smooth movement of the GATE 2021 candidate carrying the admit card on the day of the examination, i.e. Saturday, 6th February 2021. “

Use of GATE 2021 Supporting Letter

IIT Bombay says, “Dear Candidate of GATE 2021 for 6th Feb 2021, Please download the additional support letter which you can take a print out and carry with your Admit card for smooth movement on the day of your GATE exam on 6th Feb 2021.”.

The reason behind issuance of the supporting letter seems to be that there are chances of a Bharath Bandh on 6th February. There could be chakka jams, halt of public transport, road blocks, and such issues on the day.

Supporting letter will help you move ahead on road if you are stopped by officials.

Note – We are not providing the PDF of additional supporting letter for GATE 2021 here, because only those candidates who have applied should be able to download it. Therefore we also recommend that you do not give any non-GATE 2021 appearing candidate this letter as this will allow them to move in restricted areas also with this as a proof that they are appearing for the exam.
