GATE 2021 Result – IIT Bombay has released the GATE 2021 scorecard on March 27, 2021. Candidates can download the GATE scorecard till 30 June 2021. How to Check GATE 2021 Result & Download GATE Scorecard?

Candidates can only check GATE result from the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAP). The step by step process to do so is as follows:

Step 1 – Candidates can either go to or clicking on the link on this page. The link here directly leads to the GOAPS.

Step 2 – The next step is to access the login. GATE Login looks as shown below. To access it, candidates need to enter enrollment id or e-mail address and password.

Step 3 – After entering the details correctly, the candidates need to click on the blue “submit” button.

Step 4 – Following this, GOAPS opens and candidates can check their GATE 2021 result.

How to download GATE 2021 scorecard? – The process to download the scorecard is also the same. Once the scorecard has been released, qualified candidates get the option to download it from the login.

Candidates are usually confused between GATE result and scorecard. Well, the biggest difference is that the result of GATE is announced for all the candidates who appear for the exam. whereas, the scorecard is only released for qualified candidates.

How is The GATE 2021 Result Prepared?

GATE result has 4 major components:

  • GATE marks out of 100.
  • GATE score.
  • All India rank in GATE.
  • Qualifying marks

GATE marks out of 100 – These are raw marks in the exam and are prepared on the basis of the marking scheme of the exam. GATE is a 100 marks paper and the marking scheme for each subject paper is as follows:

Normalized score – Only for those exams, which are held in multiple session the raw score are normalized. Hence, the scores shall be normalized for these subject papers:

  • Civil Engineering (CE)
  • GATE Computer Science & Information Technology (CS)
  • Mechanical Engineering (ME)

Normalization is done to bring fairness in the level of difficulty for multiple sessions. The normalization is done as per the formula below.

GATE 2021 Score: Many times candidates confuse GATE Score with the normalized score. However, both are different. Once the raw or the normalized scores of GATE are calculates, it turned into 1000. This is done for all the 27 subject papers.

Forgot Login Details? You can Still Check GATE 2021 Result By Following These Steps

The result of GATE 2021 can only be checked from the official GOAPS. Other than that, there is no other medium to download it. To check the result, candidates need:

  • Enrollment ID/ Email ID/ Registration ID.
  • Password.

However, if any of these is lost then also candidates need not worry because they can regain the details by taking the following measures:

Measure 1: Your registration number and enrolment id are mentioned on the application form and admit card of GATE. You can check it there.

Enrollment ID and Password are crucial for downloading GATE admit card 2021. However, if a candidates has forgotten any of these, then do not worry. Just follow the process below:

  • In the GOAPS, click on “Forgot Enrollment ID or Password?”.
  • Next, the candidates get 2 options for:

    a) If you remember the Email Address/Enrollment ID but you have forgotten Password, click on “Request for an OTP” to get One Time Password via SMS/Email.
    b) If you already have an OTP, click on “Already have an OTP?” to reset the password.
  • If candidates don’t have an OTP then click on the “Request for an OTP” option, else, click on “Already have an OTP?”
  • After this, candidates shall be able reset password for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

GATE 2021 Cut Off

With GATE result, the cut-off for the exam is also released. Cut off is the minimum marks that candidates need to qualify the exam. The candidates whose raw score (marks out of 100) is more than the cut off qualify the exam.

What After GATE 2021 Result?

IITs conduct GATE to fill seats in M.Tech / M.E / M.Arch / M.Plan courses. However, in today’s time, the score of GATE is also used by NITs and CFTIs for admission. Other than this, PSU also uses GATE score to recruit candidates. Hence, a qualifying candidate of GATE 2021 has following options in hand:

IIT Admission

IITs only grant admission to the top candidates. No centralized counselling is held for IIT M.Tech / M.E admission and each IIT holds its individual counselling. Candidates have to apply separately for each IIT, however, the seat allotment result is announced through GATE COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal). Candidates should not get confused, they need to register for IIT and COAP.

What is Good GATE Score for IIT Admission: A good score of GATE is that which guarantees admission in IIT. Well, there is no fixed score at which IITs grant admission. However, candidates can check previous year opening and closing rank to get an idea about the good score.

NIT and CFTI Admission via CCMT 2021

National Institute of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs), and Centrally Funded Institute (CFTIs) also grant admission on the basis of GATE 2021 score. For this, Centralized Counselling for M.Tech (CCMT). CCMT 2021 will be conducted by one of NIT and more than 40 institutes participate in it.
