GATE Result 2021

GATE 2021 Result will be announced on 21 March 2021. Officially, the date of declaration of result is 22 March. However every year, the organizing IITs declare results one day early and hence we expect the result of GATE 2021 to be out on the aforementioned date.

  • Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay will announce GATE result 2021.
  • You can check GATE 2021 result at official website gate.iitb.ac.in or appsgate.iitb.ac.in.
  • In order to check the GATE result, you have to login with enrollment id / e-mail id and password.
  • After the declaration of result the scorecard is also released on the official website.
  • The scorecard must be downloaded and kept safe for all the admission process.
  • The score of GATE is valid for 3 years.

How to Check GATE 2021 Result & Download GATE Scorecard?

The result and scorecard of GATE 2021 are announced at GATE online application processing system. Candidates can follow the steps given below to download GATE 2021 result.

Step 1 – Click on the link given above. It leads to the GOAPS portal.

Step 2 – Next,  enter the enrollment id / e-mail id, password and answer to the arithmetic expression. 

Step 3 – After entering the details, click on the ‘submit’ button.

Step 4 – Lastly, check the result that is displayed on the screen and take its printout.

GATE 2021 Scorecard

After the declaration of result, GATE scorecard is released. Candidates often get confused between scorecard and GATE 2021 result. However, these two separate things. GATE result is announced for all the candidates, whereas, scorecard of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2021 shall only be allocated to those candidates who clear the exam. The scorecard of GATE consists of the following details:

How is GATE 2021 Raw and Normalized Score calculated? 

The GATE marks out of 100 are the raw score, while the score out 1000 are the normalized score. Let us now see the process of its calculation.

GATE 2021 raw score – It is determined as per the marking scheme of the examination, which is as follows:

  • Add 1 or marks for each correct answer.
  • Deduct 1/3 or 2/3 marks for each incorrect MCQ.
  • No marks for wrong NAT and MSQ answer.

GATE 2021 normalized score – The normalization in GATE is only done for those exams which are held in multiple shifts. The normalization of marks is done to bring the difficulty level of all the sessions as par. It is calculated on the basis of raw score of GATE.

GATE 2021 score – The candidates who qualify the exam are given a scorecard based on their relative performance in the exam. To calculate GATE score for single session paper, raw marks are used. Whereas, for the multiple session papers, normalized score is used. The formula to calculate the score (out of 1000 marks) for both the multi-session normalized marks and raw marks is given below:

GATE 2021 Cut Off

After the declaration of result, the exam conducting body releases cut-off for GATE every year. Cut-off scores are the minimum qualifying marks that candidates need to obtain in order to take admission. Check the previous year cut-off given below. It is given category wise, for each subject paper.

GATE 2021 Counselling for Admission in IITs and in NITs, IIEST Shibpur, and some IIITs & GFTIs

For admission in the IITs – There is no centralised counselling held. However, students are offered admission via a common portal that is COAP. Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) is a platform on which all participating institutes / PSU’s upload their offers in a common time window as specified. Candidates need to register at COAP to access the admission / job offers from all the participating institutes / PSU’s where they have applied for M.Tech admissions / jobs.

For admission in NITs, IIEST Shibpur, and some IIITs & GFTIs – To take admission in these institutes, centralised counselling is held called CCMT, or Centralised Counselling for M.Tech / M.Arch / M.Plan admissions. The entire admission process is completed via CCMT. The process includes the following steps given below:

  • Registration
  • Online choice filling and payment of fees
  • Seat allotments and practicing choices if seat allotments
  • Uploading documents for document verification
  • Confirming the seat with payment of seat acceptance fee.

About GATE 2021

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the biggest PG entrance exams for M.E / M.Tech / M.Arch / Ph.D admission. It is a national level entrance exam conducted in online mode. GATE is held for a duration of 3 hours. There are 3 types of questions in the exam such as multiple-choice questions, multiple-selective questions and numerical answer type questions. The score of GATE is also used for PSU recruitment.
