GATE 2021 Rank, Marks, Score
To arrive at the GATE 2021 rank, you have to first arrive at “Marks”, then “Score” and then the “Rank”. Here is how to go about it.
GATE 2021 Marks
GATE 2021 examination was conducted for 27 subjects. Candidates could opt for upto 2 subjects as per their preferences. Each paper had 65 questions of maximum 100 marks. Therefore to calculate the “marks”, candidates will be awarded marks out of the 100 numbers.
You can calculate marks as per number of correct and incorrect answers that you observe in your GATE 2021 response sheet, versus the GATE 2021 answer key. Use the marking scheme to get your “Marks”
GATE 2021 Normalized Marks
This step is only for Civil Engineering, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering candidates. This is because you had papers in multiple days and shifts. For you, your marks will undergo normalization as the following formula.
After obtaining the marks, the authority will derive a normalization process to give the score. The normalization process will run on a basic formula derived by the authority.
GATE 2021 Score
And finally, you will get score. The score will be awarded out of 1000 marks. This will be as per the following formula.
GATE 2021 Rank
And finally, the rank will be awarded based on your score, in comparison to scores of other candidates. The AIR (All India Rank) is a rank which is awarded to the candidates as per their marks obtained in the GATE exam. On the basis of this rank, the candidates can get the further admission in the M.Tech colleges.
